Taipei City aims to charm Singaporeans with new ‘Free and Easy’ travel packages at the Travel Revolution fair

- Itineraries to include cycling tours, wedding-photo shoots, and street culture -

Singapore, July 23 2015 – The Taipei City Government today launches an extensive variety of travel highlights and ‘Free and Easy’ packages for the upcoming Travel Revolution fair, to be held at the Marina Bay Sands from July 24 to 26. This is the first time that Taipei City is participating at the travel fair, and the city government is sparing no efforts to attract Singaporeans to discover new experiences in the vibrant Asian city. 
To sweeten the deal, travellers who are ready to take in new sights and sounds – from outdoor cycling tours to cultural immersion and overseas wedding-photo shoots – can now have it all with the latest ‘Three Days Two Nights Free and Easy’ packages introduced at the fair starting from SG$320. 

Taipei City rolls out green tourism as the first Asian City to host Cycling Festival and Cycling Tours as part of Velo-city Global conference
Taipei City is ready to welcome cycling and green enthusiasts as it hosts the first ever Velo-city Global conference in Asia in 2016. The conference was established by the European Cyclists’ Federation to promote cycling as a key mode of transport for living and recreation. With 112 kilometres of riverside cycle paths, 382 kilometres of urban bike lanes, and over 8500 bicycles for rent, the city government is reaching out to those who are keen to explore the cityscape off the beaten path and in a more environment-friendly way. Scenic cycling tours will be an easy adventure to “hop on and off,” whisking through city landmarks and back alleys like a local. 
Get first-hand experience travelling on a Taipei public-rental bicycle at the Travel Revolution fair, as efficient YouBikes, part of the city’s bicycle-sharing system, will be available for a ride.

In conjunction, the city government has also partnered with key travel vendors to launch four new FUN TAIPEI ‘Free and Easy’ itineraries – cultural, food, shopping, and outdoor – for those keen to enjoy the city through its unique street culture.  Travelers who sign up from today till end-November get to take home a limited-edition FUN TAIPEI Energy Pack containing the new itineraries to explore, S$1950 worth of F&B and shopping vouchers, as well as the multi-functional pay card, the EasyCard.
In addition, the first 50 customers who sign up for the exclusive ‘Free and Easy’ package by China Airlines (special promotion 3D2N tour at $320) at the Travel Revolution fair will also get to add on a half-day tour or free high tea session at the W Taipei hotel. 
Other early-bird goodies for the first 50 customers will include a Taipei 101 Memorabilia T-Shirt, Free Hot-Spring Redemption Voucher from the Atami Hotel Taipei Onsen, a VIP Pass to the Puppetry Art Center of Taipei, and a ‘Bring a Friend for Free’ Foot Massage Coupon for Kin Raku.

The city government has also tied up with the well-known bridal salon Ivy Bride to launch ‘Free and Easy’ packages targeted at couples in the midst of planning for their wedding. The first 50 early birds who sign up for a package will get to take home a gift coupon to snap two creative portraits with the provision of make-up and gowns.

From July 24 to July 26, travellers can drop by the Taipei City booth to experience elements of the itineraries that the city government is sharing. From DIY artisanal handicrafts to taste-testing the latest trendy street foods in Taipei, handpicked vendors will be showcasing highlights that bring out the Fun Taipei experience.

The Taipei City Government today introduces four new FUN TAIPEI ‘Free and Easy’ itineraries with the aim of drawing travelers to enjoy the vibrant Asian city through its unique street culture – hopping across districts and snaking through alleyways like a local. Travelers on the lookout for new experiences can now count on Taipei City to offer novel sights and sounds to add to the already never-ending list of things to do in the city.

In conjunction, the Taipei City Government has also worked with travel partners such as China Airlines and Scoot to roll out travel packages with deals and savings up to S$1,950. Travelers signing up from today till end-November will also take home a limited-edition FUN TAIPEI Energy Pack containing over S$1,950 worth of F&B and shopping vouchers as well as an  EasyCard.

Get a sneak peek at the FUN TAIPEI Pop-Up Café at Bugis+

From July 17~July 19, travelers can drop by the FUN TAIPEI Pop-Up Café being held at Bugis+, where they can get a preview of selected street-culture highlights from the new itineraries.  Those interested in artisanal handicrafts can look forward to hands-on sessions with a stamp-making craftsman and a tie-dye print expert from Studio inBloom, taking home unique pieces of creative Taiwan art. Get another taste of the local cultural scene as renowned Taipei street performers Jiang Mu Chen and Jacky Ho wow with their modern-dance creations. Foodies can get an update on the latest trending street foods in Taipei, as handpicked vendors such as Sun Merry Bakery, SUGAR & SPICE Nougat, and Mao Kong Da Cha Hu share their most delectable snack offerings with visitors.

Over the next three days (June 26th-28th ), DOIT is promoting Taipei City’s wide-ranging opportunities for individual tourism to Malaysian travelers at 1 Utama through its “2015 FUN TAIPEI CAFÉ - Afternoon Tea in Taipei @ 1 Utama” activity. China Airlines, Air Asia, and seven travel agencies are making good use of this event to offer promotional discounts and exclusive deals to individual travelers from Malaysia. This event will also be the first ever to highlight Taipei’s many enticements for Muslim travelers, including Muslim-friendly hotels, Halal-certified restaurants, and selected cultural sites and attractions. Program contents highlight the Muslim-friendly aspects of Taipei tourism, introducing DOIT’s travel itinerary recommendations for Muslims as well as the comprehensive list of Muslim-friendly accommodations and Halal-certified restaurants that is has prepared to help ensure that Muslim families fully enjoy their stay. The Romantika episodes filmed in Taipei are scheduled for broadcast in July.
